But sure let’s pretend the WoC princesses are least popular in spite of everything that indicates most of them being popular fan favorites, much more so than Aurora or Snow White?? And even if it were true, popularity of merchendise is manufactured in itself. Tired of people acting like certain princesses are associated as princesses more just by chance. It’s because they’re marketed that way! Think of how- even after Tiana came out- WoC princesses are tokenized in any princess merchendise.

SO, THE MOD OF THE TUMBLR BLOG (Mary), petitetiaras, decided to close her blog of the same name because folk were re-posting her graphics and recieving likes and follows as a result. Most I've come across never credited, others did. But the apparent request that people not re-post her work didn't go heeded so she decided to close her blog, but has maintained to keep simpledisneythings and her other blogs open. I'm generally apthatic toward the closure of blogs especially with ones that have a legion of followers, but seems just a tad reactionary, especially given the nature of that particular website, especially when it doesn't bypass Tumblr's tag search.

According to former Disney animator Tom Bancroft on Twitter, Disney gutted their hand-drawn animation division this afternoon, and laid off nine veteran animators, including some of the studio’s biggest names: Nik Ranieri, Ruben Aquino, Frans Vischer, Russ Edmonds, Brian Ferguson, Jamie Lopez and Dan Tanaka. Two of the animators who still have jobs are Eric Goldberg and Mark Henn. The news of cuts in their animation division was leaked last week, but I, for one, did not anticipate that all these top animators would be let go. We’ve reached out to the studio for comment.

Two lesbians have become the first gay couple to tie the knot at Tokyo Disney Resort, both decked out in fairytale white dresses despite an initial ruling that one had to wear men’s clothes. “My love Hiroko and I wore wedding dresses and had a mini-parade in DisneySea, a place I also love,” Koyuki Higashi, 28, said on Twitter.

“I was really happy!” she said. The event, which was held last Friday, was the first homosexual wedding in the popular amusement park even though gay marriage has no legal standing in Japan. “We may not have a law that applies to us, but when someone congratulates us for the wedding, I will proudly say ‘thank you!’” said Higashi. Watching "The Wizard of Oz" and "Star Wars" with his son and daughter made communications expert Colin Stokes wonder about the stories we celebrate. Thanks to a growing awareness of gender representation, the world is now safe for girls in armor - but is the hero journey we've gotten used to inherently limiting? This funny and thought-provoking talk from TEDxBeaconStreet will make you look twice at your favorite films.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
